Woodworking

One of my hobbies is building heirloom furniture and crafts using traditional joinery techniques.

My company, Louden Woodworks, can build custom furniture or crafts to published plans or to customer specifications. I prefer to use locally harvested wood from the Central Texas area, especially Pecan, American Elm, Maple, or Oak as available. The wood is obtained from trees harvested by the city or from public lands. These trees then have a second life as a prized heirloom for generations to come.

I also work with most hardwoods such as Alder, Poplar, Cherry, Mahogany, or Walnut. More exotic species that I have used for smaller projects include Padauk, PurpleHeart, Cocobolo, and Bubinga.
